Having a wedding at a faraway destination is one trend that is bound to follow from the last year. Many couples are now opting for destination weddings that take place in some of the tropical paradises of the world. The only difference is that this year, couples will also go off the beaten path and head towards Canada, Iceland, and Italy.

4- Drone Photography

Whether it’s the starter, the main course, or the dessert table – couples will opt for menus that suit the taste buds of all their guests. Although, the modern society does everything over the virtual platform –couples still like to send out wedding invites through the traditional post mail. A bit costly than sending invites out through emails – wedding cards sent through postal mails are more personal and give a better insight to the guest at what to expect in the wedding. Additionally, couples are also trying their hand at handcrafted invitations rather than printed ones. For this calligraphy is the ultimate choice which most couples are doing by themselves through YouTube tutorials.

1- A live band

Live bands are expensive, but they surely keep the party rocking until the wee hours; and accommodate to keep multiple generations happy.

These were just some of the hottest trends that are making the rounds this 2017. Uniquely You Planning has covered all the latest trends for your upcoming wedding.

Which ones would you choose for your wedding?

Color of The Year 2017 – Greenery

Pantone recently released its Color of the Year for 2017 — and we’re back to just one color this year! It’s called “Greenery,” and — you guessed it — a gorgeous shade of green.

A vibrant, bright (but natural!) hue, Greenery is definitely an eye-catching color, but not in an obnoxious way. In fact, the color is described by the Pantone team as fresh, calming, and meant to inspire new beginnings.

Every year since 2000, the company has chosen a color that reflects the current cultural climate. In the following year, the color has historically influenced trends in all facets of design—architecture, interior décor, fashion, food, travel—the list goes on.

Greenery signifies beginnings: a fresh New Year; healthier food resolutions and growing vegetarian trends; grass and the outdoors during spring and summer.

But most prominently, the yellow-green hue (specifically, Pantone 15-0343) comments on the concept of “environment.”

Most obviously, “environment” today refers to the “go-green” movement—which, while not a revolutionary idea in 2017, has reached a crescendo this year.

To help you “go-green”, we have created an alternative to wedding invitations, by offering wedding websites. Click Here for more information.

Along with the unveiling of the color of the year, Pantone created a selection of 10 palettes pairing Greenery with neutrals, pastels, brights, deeper tones, metallics, and even the two 2016 colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity.

Ultimately, Greenery calls to mind the ‘re-’ words: refresh, revive, restore, renew, replenish, regenerate, rejuvenate, reinvigorate, re-oxygenate. Design is an outlet for all of these fresh beginnings. And the yellow pigment in Greenery references the sun, the symbolic light that people need in these times.

When shopping for the perfect ceremony outfit, be sure to remember these key rules:

  • Avoid white. This one should be a given. After all, it’s the bride’s day and you never want to distract from her big moment.
  • When in doubt, overdress. A too-formal dress will always be more forgivable than a pair of skinny jeans.
  • Stay away from distracting colors. Neons and overbearing prints are a no-go. Wedding pictures last a lifetime and you don’t want to stand out for the wrong reasons.
  • Mindful fits. A respectful fit and hemline is a must. Showing off your curves is always empowering, but save the body-con dresses for ladies night.

Current Trends in Unity Ceremonies

Current Trends in Unity Ceremonies

Many modern brides and grooms tend to make their own traditions when it comes to performing the unity of marriage ceremony. From the unity candle, sand ceremonies, a blessing tree or a religious scripture there are several ways to unify your love and marriage. Below are several current trends to inspire your modern unity ceremony.

unityUnity Candle

The unity candle ceremony traditionally follows the exchanging of the rings. A popular unity ceremony choice amongst both religious and non-denominational couples – the ceremony signifies your union through lighting candles. Two tapers are lit, then joined on one large candle by the bride and groom to form one lit candle of unity. Then the bride blows the groom’s candle out, and the groom follows by blowing the bride’s out for a simple sweet, sentimental moment of marriage.

This can be very sentimentally sweet for a couple who has a favourite beach or a place with sand that is dear to their hearts. Like the unity candle, the couple takes two vases of sand and pour them into one signifying the unity of marriage. If your wedding is on the beach, you can opt to have your officiant scoop the sand into each vase and unify with the sand in front of you, then keep the vase from the Sand Ceremony as a cherished moment to display at home.

2-wedding-blessing-treeThe Blessing Tree

The Blessing Tree Ceremony signifies the couple growing into one as they spend their life together. This is great for couples who love to spend their time outdoors or like to garden. The tree is traditionally a small sapling that is to be planted after the wedding for the couple. Alternatively, you can use a tree from a craft store to display in your home after the big day. After the exchanging of the vows, the bridal party and parents of the bride and groom all come to the front of the wedding and tie their blessing onto the tree. They embrace the couple afterwards and return to their seats. Afterward, the rest of the guests can tie their notes on at the reception.

Religious Scripture or Poems

Couples can also opt for a reading to signify their unity instead of a ceremony. If you are a religious couple or opt for a religious style ceremony, ask your officiant to suggest some Bible verses or religious scripture to use in place of a traditional unity ceremony. For non-denominational or modern weddings, a favorite poem or passage from a book can be beautiful too!
