Top 8 Wedding Trends for 2017

Top 8 Wedding Trends for 2017

Trends come and go every year and 2017 is no exception. As the New Year starts, several new trends have turned up to the wedding industry. Whether it’s the color scheme, the flowers, menu, or the bridal dress – one has to follow the lead of wedding experts.

If you are also getting married this year, this blog is for you!

Read on to find out some of the hottest wedding trends that have been uncovered for the year 2017.

8- Vintage Decor with British Dining

https://www.eventsource.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/FOS-Header.jpg

This year is all about intricate vintage décor. Whether it’s the stage, the entrance, or the complete reception hall – all must be draped with exquisite flowers and lace cloth to create a lasting English influx.

7- Virtual Planning
https://www.silverfoxtalents.com/itemgallery/2572bc303d1f93.png

Technology has taken over completely and now all planning is discussed over virtual devices. From online shopping to planning your entire wedding, Internet has made everything just a click away for you. Don’t be surprised if you end up texting with your vendors.

One of the biggest technology trends is wedding websites. For about the same amount as paper invitations, you can have a completely customizable wedding website.  Click Here to find out more!

6- Lush greenery
https://images.pexels.com/photos/250702/pexels-photo-250702.jpeg?w=940&h=650&auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb

Wedding venues are now not at all limited to floral decorations. Of course, flowers still have their special place but they are integrated with lots of greenery in different forms. It could be small green patch with the patio, or a lush green garden venue –the year 2017 will showcase lots of greenery which will definitely make an impact in your wedding photographs.

5- Faraway Destination Weddings

https://images.pexels.com/photos/169215/pexels-photo-169215.jpeg?w=940&h=650&auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb

Having a wedding at a faraway destination is one trend that is bound to follow from the last year. Many couples are now opting for destination weddings that take place in some of the tropical paradises of the world. The only difference is that this year, couples will also go off the beaten path and head towards Canada, Iceland, and Italy.

4- Drone Photography

https://dwelltriangle.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/drone-wedding-900-x-598.jpg

Aerial shots of the bridal party took off last year and will continue to hover above the guests this year as well. Traditional photography and videography will still hold the fort but drone photos of the venue, guests, and everything is an add-on.

3- Customized Menu

http://www.themanorrestaurant.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Menu-with-Guests%CE%93%C3%87%C3%96-Dietary-Rules-in-Mind.jpg

Whether it’s the starter, the main course, or the dessert table – couples will opt for menus that suit the taste buds of all their guests. Since the wedding party is a combination of guests from all age groups and ethnicity – couples nowadays customize menus that are filled with the traditional items but with a twist.

2- Handcrafted DIY Invitations

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9b/fb/fb/9bfbfb639f6fc81be373ae48af263225.jpg

Although, the modern society does everything over the virtual platform –couples still like to send out wedding invites through the traditional post mail. A bit costly than sending invites out through emails – wedding cards sent through postal mails are more personal and give a better insight to the guest at what to expect in the wedding. Additionally, couples are also trying their hand at handcrafted invitations rather than printed ones. For this calligraphy is the ultimate choice which most couples are doing by themselves through YouTube tutorials.

1- A live band

http://shaylynneweddings.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/How-to-Choose-Your-Wedding-Band-Credit-to-etvoila-weddings.jpg

Yep! The wedding singers are back in wedding trends for 2017. Depending on one’s budget, couples are choosing live bands to set the mood on their after party rather than hiring a DJ. Live bands are expensive, but they surely keep the party rocking until the wee hours; and accommodate to keep multiple generations happy.

These were just some of the hottest trends that are making the rounds this 2017. Uniquely You Planning has covered all the latest trends for your upcoming wedding.

Which ones would you choose for your wedding?

Color of The Year 2017 – Greenery

Pantone recently released its Color of the Year for 2017 — and we’re back to just one color this year! It’s called “Greenery,” and — you guessed it — a gorgeous shade of green.

A vibrant, bright (but natural!) hue, Greenery is definitely an eye-catching color, but not in an obnoxious way. In fact, the color is described by the Pantone team as fresh, calming, and meant to inspire new beginnings.

Every year since 2000, the company has chosen a color that reflects the current cultural climate. In the following year, the color has historically influenced trends in all facets of design—architecture, interior décor, fashion, food, travel—the list goes on.

Greenery signifies beginnings: a fresh New Year; healthier food resolutions and growing vegetarian trends; grass and the outdoors during spring and summer.

But most prominently, the yellow-green hue (specifically, Pantone 15-0343) comments on the concept of “environment.”

Most obviously, “environment” today refers to the “go-green” movement—which, while not a revolutionary idea in 2017, has reached a crescendo this year.

To help you “go-green”, we have created an alternative to wedding invitations, by offering wedding websites. Click Here for more information.

Along with the unveiling of the color of the year, Pantone created a selection of 10 palettes pairing Greenery with neutrals, pastels, brights, deeper tones, metallics, and even the two 2016 colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity.

Ultimately, Greenery calls to mind the ‘re-’ words: refresh, revive, restore, renew, replenish, regenerate, rejuvenate, reinvigorate, re-oxygenate. Design is an outlet for all of these fresh beginnings. And the yellow pigment in Greenery references the sun, the symbolic light that people need in these times.

Wedding Guest Style Guide

Check out this awesome Wedding Guest Style Guide by  The Black Tux, an online tuxedo rental company that offers a well-curated selection of stylish, modern formalwear.  This is a great resource if you are wedding guest trying to figure out what to wear for an upcoming wedding or you are a bride that would like your guests to adhere to a certain style.

weddingstyleguide_tbtv2

When shopping for the perfect ceremony outfit, be sure to remember these key rules:

  • Avoid white. This one should be a given. After all, it’s the bride’s day and you never want to distract from her big moment.
  • When in doubt, overdress. A too-formal dress will always be more forgivable than a pair of skinny jeans.
  • Stay away from distracting colors. Neons and overbearing prints are a no-go. Wedding pictures last a lifetime and you don’t want to stand out for the wrong reasons.
  • Mindful fits. A respectful fit and hemline is a must. Showing off your curves is always empowering, but save the body-con dresses for ladies night.

Current Trends in Unity Ceremonies

Current Trends in Unity Ceremonies

Many modern brides and grooms tend to make their own traditions when it comes to performing the unity of marriage ceremony. From the unity candle, sand ceremonies, a blessing tree or a religious scripture there are several ways to unify your love and marriage. Below are several current trends to inspire your modern unity ceremony.

unityUnity Candle

The unity candle ceremony traditionally follows the exchanging of the rings. A popular unity ceremony choice amongst both religious and non-denominational couples – the ceremony signifies your union through lighting candles. Two tapers are lit, then joined on one large candle by the bride and groom to form one lit candle of unity. Then the bride blows the groom’s candle out, and the groom follows by blowing the bride’s out for a simple sweet, sentimental moment of marriage.

il_570xn-901696931_1vqaSand Ceremony

This can be very sentimentally sweet for a couple who has a favourite beach or a place with sand that is dear to their hearts. Like the unity candle, the couple takes two vases of sand and pour them into one signifying the unity of marriage. If your wedding is on the beach, you can opt to have your officiant scoop the sand into each vase and unify with the sand in front of you, then keep the vase from the Sand Ceremony as a cherished moment to display at home.

2-wedding-blessing-treeThe Blessing Tree

The Blessing Tree Ceremony signifies the couple growing into one as they spend their life together. This is great for couples who love to spend their time outdoors or like to garden. The tree is traditionally a small sapling that is to be planted after the wedding for the couple. Alternatively, you can use a tree from a craft store to display in your home after the big day. After the exchanging of the vows, the bridal party and parents of the bride and groom all come to the front of the wedding and tie their blessing onto the tree. They embrace the couple afterwards and return to their seats. Afterward, the rest of the guests can tie their notes on at the reception.

Religious Scripture or Poems

Couples can also opt for a reading to signify their unity instead of a ceremony. If you are a religious couple or opt for a religious style ceremony, ask your officiant to suggest some Bible verses or religious scripture to use in place of a traditional unity ceremony. For non-denominational or modern weddings, a favorite poem or passage from a book can be beautiful too!

5 Super Fun Wedding Ideas

5 Super Fun Wedding Ideas

There are always a ton of fun wedding ideas. Here are 5 that I think are super fun and trendy right now!

1. Add a line for a DJ song request on your RSVP cards.

This is a great way to make sure that everyone gets up and dances.

Wedding Idea – DJ Song Request

2. For a brunch reception, serve up a waffle bar and butler pass mimosas. Or have a “Make your own Bloody Mary Bar.”

A brunch reception can be so quirky and different. You can also add a made to order omelet station.

3. Hire a rad food truck for a late-night snack. (Yes, I know we don’t have an In-N-Out Burger  😥 )

We have so many great food trucks in the area and what a fun way to refuel after a night of drinking and dancing.

Wedding Idea – Food Truck

4. For a fun appetizer have a popcorn bar.

Popcorn is a good idea to keep people satisfied yet not ruin their appetites. Plus it’s so fun!

5. Sometimes an array of bridesmaid dress colors can look prettier than just picking one.

I love the idea of different colored dresses. I’ve also seen this same concept with different styles of dresses but in the same color. That way no matter what their body type your bridesmaids will be comfortable.

I initially contacted Wendy for day-of help with decorating. She consulted with my daughter and I on a couple of occasions and offered to help find a unique decorating solution for a unique problem. She went above and beyond to help us out and the final solution was beautiful. She also worked tirelessly with me on the wedding day to detail our reception space! I would recommend Wendy over and over again, plus if I had to do this over again, I would have utilized more of her talents, to take off more of the pressure.

Wendy was totally wonderful in everything she did with and for us! Plus she is a delightful woman! The wedding ceremony itself was very non-traditional, a hand-fasting ceremony, and Wendy provided several options for my daughter and her husband to choose from, plus she was open to their own ideas. It was a lovely ceremony, and we are still getting wonderful comments about it. She was great in the decorating part of the wedding as well, and since it was rather a DIY event, she was invaluable. She was up before we were, and had things already rolling. She has a good eye for design and "flow".... and it was all so beautiful and just what everyone had hoped it would be. I am very comfortable in recommending Wendy for probably anything!

We were so happy that someone in Billings had the fore thought to have put this event together on 12/13/14. We are both in our 60's and have been together for a long time but with Jerry in the hospital for a long time and it was touch and go for a while, we felt that maybe someone was telling us to get married. This was such a wonderful idea to be married on 12/13/14, we had a wonderful time and the venue was beautifully decorated and the food and the Officiant was superb. I would highly recommend this company again to anyone planning an event. Thank you for the start of our lives together and hopefully for many years. Jerry and Peggy Olson

I would highly recommend this company again to anyone planning an event. Thank you for the start of our lives together and hopefully for many years. Jerry and Peggy Olson

Wendy was professional, organized, and a lot of fun to work with for our Chico wedding on July 11th! She made the day OURS, and she listened to all of our ideas and incorporated them into our vows, making our ceremony about us. Wendy was genuinely happy to be there for us and meet all of our needs. She is creative and great about offering suggestions- I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an officiant or planner- she definitely goes above and beyond for the client. Thank you, Wendy!!

Wendy was awesome to work with. Would recommend her to anyone planning a wedding. We only hired her for "day of coordination", but she went above and beyond in helping us. Very easy to work with and very quick to respond when questions came up.

Wendy was AHHH-mazing! Our ceremony was perfect. Wendy used our love letters to really capture my husband and I's journey to the alter. I could not of imagined a better ceremony. It was so special and we will remember it for a lifetime!

Wendy was amazing to work with! We working with such a hectic schedule and she rolled with all the punches with no issues. She also had a great personality, was easy to work with and made our ceremony incredibly personable. She even wrote us a thank you letter that we discovered when we were opening our gifts! I would not hesitate to recommend her as an officiant!!!! We are very happy customers!
